What’s been happening:

Came to PSU on assignment as an active duty Army officer to teach ROTC at the University (1960-1963). Assignment was part of a 30 year career as a regular Army officer which included combat tours as an Infantry officer in Korea and Vietnam. Other assignments included duty with airborne units in the United States and with Army Special Forces in Europe. While at PSU, met and married my first wife. Completed requirements for a MA in Journalism (1967), which qualified me for a 3 year assignment as an instructor/assist. professor of English at the US Military Academy, West Point NY (1966-1969). Other assignments included command of an Infantry battalion in Korea (1969-1970), and duty as a Department of the Army staff officer at the Pentagon, (1970-1972). Served the last 5 years of active duty as a senior staff officer at SHAPE (Supreme HQ Allied Powers Europe) in Mons Belgium (1976-1979), and Deputy Commander of the Army community in Munich Germany (1979- 1981). Following retirement, worked for 6 years as a civilian employee and then joined the American Red Cross in Europe as a Communications specialist servicing messages between military personnel and their families. After the sudden death of my wife in 2001, returned to the USA and continued employment with the Red Cross until retirement in July 2008. Currently living with my second wife, Katrina, in Alexandria VA.
